22 Mar 2011
Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company LLC (a Global Ports group company) in partnership with T-Trans LLC and Kamchatka Lines LLC began operating a regular coastal service from Moscow region bound for Sakhalin and Kamchatka.
Next scheduled train of the new service, formed at T-Trans' terminal (Podmoskovnaya station of the Moscow Railways) from containers carrying food and other goods for high north regions, will arrive at the VSC terminal at the beginning of April.
Average total transit time of expeditious trains is 11 days. New service allows clients to reduce time of delivery and transportation costs substantially. Coastal service offers discount rates provided for expeditious container trains. Container trains go strictly from the shipper to the consignee without any stops at freight yards.
Most of the cargo handled by the new services is intended for recipients in Yuzno-Sakhalinsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, part of the cargo also goes to Nakhodka and Vladivostok. Sea coastal delivery from Vostochy Port to Sakhalin and Kamchatka ports is provided by a partner company, coastwise line Kamchatka Lines LLC.
At a later stage partners are planning to increase the number of shippings from Moscow to VSC up to three trains a week. For higher efficiency they also plan to make this service ring-shaped, providing return loading and dispatch of trains from VSC terminal to T-Trans terminal in the Moscow Region.
